Amy Hastanan, LMT & L.Ac

#21658

Amy is a dually Licensed Massage Therapist and Acupuncturist with training from Thailand, New York, and Hawaii. She has recently relocated from the island of Oahu to Portland, OR.

Amy began her massage training in Koh Tao, Thailand, Surat Thani Province in 2005. Her love of massage therapy lead her to NYC's Swedish Institute, the oldest continuously operating massage therapy institution in the United States. Throughout her career, Amy has worked alongside chiropractors and physical therapists in the field of pain management and wellness.  She decided to further her degree and attend Acupuncture school in Manhattan, starting at Pacific College (PCOM).  The lack of hands on practice with plant based medicine in the city made her consider transferring to Hawaii, where she finally received her Master's from Honolulu's Institute for Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, 2015.

Amy's goal has always been to integrate eastern and western medicine into a practice.  She fuses Traditional Thai Bodywork, Tui-Na, Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release Technique, while pulling from her background in Chinese Medicine  and Herbology.

  Dreams of a Mobile Clinic

Amy and Naike are nurturing their dreams of a mobile clinic that will allow them to take their healing arts throughout the United States and around the globe to benefit those of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures.  Hawaii has been our home for the past 3 years.  Now that we have more access to resources on the mainland,  we will assemble a prototype for our Mobile Clinic, while living in the Pacific Northwest.

We hope to start a  documentary series once on the road, which will explore systems of medicine, from east to west, modern to traditional.  We would like to showcase our work and those who we meet along the way.  Our journey will focus on the pursuit and expansion of our knowledge of how people live and heal; finding ways to share that with the greater community.
